Manchester United had to splash £80million to sign Harry Maguire and make him the most expensive defender in the world. Solskjaer made him the captain of the team but he has been average (The Guardian).

Turns out Leicester City were able to rob us because the England international has surely not proved his worth at Old Trafford.

As per the latest reports going on in the media, the Red Devils have been looking to lure a striker and as per The Sun, they considered signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin to strengthen things up front.

However, this time, Everton took advantage of our desperation to improve the squad and asked for a mammoth fee of £80million for a player they signed for just £1.5million.

The British outlet have mentioned that due to that high a valuation, Manchester United backed off. Glad we did that.

Yes, the 23-year-old scored the winning goal vs Spurs in the opening PL game and yes, he netted a brilliant hat-trick vs the Baggies at the weekend but is the Toffees center forward really worth £80million? I do not think so.

The above mentioned asking price would have been justifiable if the player was a serial goal scorer but that is not the case.

In the 2017-18 PL season, he scored just 4 goals in in 32 games. In the 2018-19 campaign, he found the net 6 times in 35 league games.

On the other hand, last season, Calvert-Lewin only managed to score 13 goals in 36 league appearances. Moreover, in the last 10 Premier League outings, he failed to register even a single goal.

So, the £80million tag slapped on him by the Merseysiders makes no sense. At Old Trafford, Solskjaer needs a proven quality striker to have any chance of fighting for the title. Unfortunately, since 2012-2013, no Man United forward has been able to net 20-plus goals in the Premier League.
